HEAT Monthly
Initiatives
As a responsible employer, we want to make
available opportunities to cement the relationships
formed in the workplace. To this end, we run
a number of initiatives and events which serve
to enrich company life.
Company Barbecue and
Fun Day
This takes place each June and all staff and
their families are invited to participate
in the carnival atmosphere. As the photos
illustrate, all the fun of the fair is on
hand to ensure that everyone has a great day!
Annual Fundraising Quiz
January heralds our annual quiz which is well
attended by staff and a number of our clients
and suppliers. The event always proves to
be popular and gives us all something to look
forward to as the long January days draw to
a close.
Health and Safety
Month
Health and Safety is our No.1 Core Value.
We review and update site and work related
safety matters on an ongoing basis and communicate
this to our staff.
The month of February is given over to the
promotion of a wide ranging number of subjects
relating to health and safety, and we provide
a number of health checks and assessments
such as Chest, Heart and Stroke well being
appointments, eye tests, open surgeries with
our company doctor, corporate blood donation
sessions and our Family Fun Walk, encouraging
people to get out into the fresh spring air!
HEAT the Apprentice
Programme
Our Apprentice Open Night takes place in June.
As a preferred employer, it is not uncommon
for 150 youngsters to apply for the 6 apprenticeships
that we offer annually. For the 6 individuals
that join our staff, we ensure that they receive
a rounded education here at HEAT so that they
have the chance to acquire life skills to
complement what the knowledge of their chosen
trade.
Following their induction period, they combine
studies at college with carefully supervised
on site experience with the HEAT training
team.
Apprentice Month
The highlight of HEAT's Apprentice Programme
comes in the month of May. A challenging schedule
of events is devised for our young team and
focuses on outdoor pursuits, presentation
skills and in 2005, a day in Circus School
which emphasised how communication plays its
part in everything that we do. The photographs
capture the both the enjoyment and enthusiasm
that the HEAT Apprentices derived from the
event.
Photography Exhibition
and Book Project
HEAT worked in collaboration with a
professional photographer Sarah Hunter.
She recorded images of our staff for
a full 12 months, concentrating on their
interests out of work. It was indeed
a fascinating project and revealed a
multitude of talents and hobbies amongst
our people. The images speak for themselves. |
