HEAT is off the blocks running with its programme of solar thermal installations for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. The first of 120 installations was completed on August 2nd and the remainder are scheduled to take place over the next few months. Both flat panel and evacuated glass tubes will be utilised.

Else where, HEAT Leeds stole a march on its Belfast head office by completing its first solar installation one day earlier. Two pilot schemes of the Alpha Solarsmart system have been carried out which will provide Solar Thermal energy to dwellings with combination boilers.

Nick Beckett, HEAT's Technical Director heads up the company's Technical Strategy Group. He commented:

"My team will lead the company's research into alternative energies and their applications, thus enabling HEAT to fulfil its commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by playing a major role in advising upon and delivering renewable energy solutions on behalf of our social housing clients."
