The evening
of 19th October saw HEAT people gather together in the elegant surroundings of the
Northern Ireland Science Park, Titanic Quarter, to celebrate the dedication of all
staff members to have served five years and over. This follows on from last year's
Service Awards Evening which served to mark the loyalty of employees who had been
with HEAT for ten years, and in some cases, over 20. John Morgan, Director of
Communications and Resource Development, congratulated each of the 46 award winners
for all that they bring to the company.
In addition to the awards for Long Service, a new category of awards was
introduced to the proceedings this year - HEAT Heroes. These are the staff members,
who in the course of their everyday work, have encountered some fairly challenging
situations but whose prompt and decisive actions have, in many cases, saved lives.
Against a backdrop of today's climate where so many people cross the road to avoid
involvement in difficult situations, HEAT's Heroes are to be commended for their
selfless acts and citizenship.
The event is also an opportunity to show case some of the other talents that lie
in HEAT's midst; this year, it was the turn of Software Developer Nicky Wallace to
provide the cabaret in the form of a tremendous juggling display; to the sound of
'oohs' and 'aahs' from the crowd, Nicky juggled as many as seven items at a time,
a feat that has demanded over ten years of dedicated practice.
