eaga community fund was created to support community projects that educate, raise awareness and demonstrate community involvement in addressing environmental issues at grassroots level. The fund seeks to assist community based projects addressing environmental issues.

The 10 April saw the launch of the eaga community fund in partnership with Community Foundation Northern Ireland to support nine local charities that were successful in their bid applications. The nine groups are from varying backgrounds and locations throughout the province but all have the same goal to make their environment one to be proud of.
The successful groups who received funding are:
- Field Studies Centre – Derrygonnelly, Co Fermanagh
- Desertcreat Club Scouts – Tullyhogue
- Shimna Integrated College Eco Group – Newcastle, Co Down
- Community Horticultural Enterprise – Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh
- Mosside Development Group – Mosside, Co Antrim
- Greater Village Regeneration Trust – Donegall Road, Belfast
- Stadium Projects – Shankill Road, Belfast
- The Mill Youth Club – Balnamore, Ballymoney
- Hazelbank Residents Association – Hazelbank, Co Derry
eaga are also working in association with Global Action Plan, an independent charity committed to engaging people in practical solutions to environmental and social problems, in order to raise awareness within their companies and to reduce their environmental impact therefore leading by example proving that everyone can make a difference.
During the launch the nine groups received their cheques for £1,000.00 to carry out the works in their community and they have also been invited back in September 2008 to showcase their works and update the community fund on how this support has made a difference to their community and their local environment.

- The Government has set targets for all local authorities to have all social rented homes meeting Decent Homes standards by 2010. - Since 2000, eaga has invested over £3 million in the independent eaga Partnership Charitable Trust which funds research into solutions to fuel poverty.
