The Apprentice
Programme
Our Apprentice Team numbers 14. Our approach
to training and guiding our youngest employees
is innovative as it addresses not only industry
related skills, but also seeks to provide
encouragement in develop life skills.
We seek to bring between four and six apprentices
on board each year. A series of recruitment
events takes place in June to which there
is an overwhelming response.
The Apprenticeship begins in late August with
an induction week which introduces hte youngsters
to HEAT's ethos through COre Values and includes
time spent in the HEAT training area to learn
the rudiments of plumbing before joining the
training team on site. The lead hands in charge
of the training team serve to mentor the youngsters.
Quarterly breakfast meetings are held to monitor
the team's progress and we keep in close contact
with their colleges to support their studies.
The content of the 2008 Programme included:
A day at Circus School
Community Refurbishment Project
Confidence building
Outdoors Pursuit Team Challenge
The group's progress has been clearly noticeable
with confidence levels increasing year on
year.
